The Shack

I just finished a great book called The Shack.

It is a work of fiction that really got me. It not only was a very good read, but it showed me God in a new, refreshing light. Over the past 4-5 years I have come to know God as a very close friend. However, after reading this book, I now see God and the Trinity as being even more of a friend, more personal than I did before which is very cool.

I am off tomorrow morning on a spiritual retreat...to spend some time with Him, this great Friend of mine for 3-4 hours or so. I am looking forward to what He has in store for me!

I googled "The Shack" and got your blog. I am reading it now and on Chapt. 6. Is it fiction? I thought it was true. It's a relief to know it is not true though I know evil people suck as the "Little Ladykiller" do exist. I am really struggling with that part right now as a mother of an 19 mo. old boy. I have no tolerance for people who hurt children. It makes me sick in my stomach. To take advantage of innocence and reliance. Sorry, to vent, but I wanted to talk to someone about it before my Sunday School class meets.

Susan, thanks for the comment and thanks for checking in. I can assure you this is fiction, although it really had an impact on my faith. I am with you with having a hard time tolerating those who hurt children. However, evil is a reality. But in Christ we can overcome it all. Not that it won't hurt sometimes, but we know who wins in the end!

Keep reading, I think you will like where the author takes this.

Blessings,

Jim
